Mission Rowing Canoes

New for 2008, Ontario made Mission Rowing Shells by H2o Composites is being stocked by Frontenac Outfitters Canoe & Kayak Centre, and we are one of a very few select Canadian Dealers who offers ‘FREE' test paddling everyday.

Jeff Hill and Chris Oxner have been quietly making ultra high-quality Mission racing & recreational rowing shells in Tavistock Ontario for over 10- years. They also build H2o Canoes as well as ‘private label' rowing shells for a number of large, U.S. based rowing shell companies. Mission Rowing is a perfect fit for our unique on-water Canoe & Kayak Centre, as it provides outdoor enthusiasts & physical fitness and training buffs another on-water alternative.

Mission's - Mission...
To provide you, the rower, with the latest in rowing shell design & technology by crafting rowing shells which are functional, comfortable, durable, and offer maximum performance. Mission continually strives to combine new construction techniques with less traditional design concepts to build boats that can help you maximize your rowing experience, regardless of your skill level. Mission Rowing uses the finest components to bring you the best quality product... their goal is perfection.

Hull Lamination Processes:

Vacuum Resin Infusion
All Mission Hulls and components are built using an advanced lamination process called resin infusion. During this process the reinforcement fabrics and cores are carefully aligned and then sealed under vacuum pressure. Using the vacuum pressure, resin is drawn into the fabric and core in a very precise manner leaving us with a very high and desirable fabric to resin ratio. The result is a tough, stiff, and lightweight structure.
This process has replaced the use of prepregs in many composite applications.

Construction Materials:

Carbon Fibre
Mission Rowing's primary construction fabric. It is extremely strong in tensile strength and is also very lightweight.

Kevlar
Kevlar is known for its resistance to puncture and abrasion. While not quite the tensile strength of carbon fibre, Kevlar is a tough, strong, lightweight and durable fabric.

S-Glass
Unlike standard fibreglass (E-Glass) this material is very strong and durable. It is an excellent supplement to carbon fibre and Kevlar and shares most of these fabrics strength properties.

Core Materials
Mission Rowing's hulls and components are cored using special lightweight materials. Cores greatly increase rigidity without adding significant weight.

Component Manufacturing:

Side-by-Side Construction
All Mission Racing hulls are built using a method unique to the rowing shell industry. Their hulls are built in left and right halves rather than with a traditional deck and hull. By joining hulls along the centre axis tremendous stiffness can be achieved. The joint itself becomes a super strong stiffening keel. Another benefit is the durability created by placing the strongest part of the hull along the centre of the boat where you are most likely to strike submerged objects. Since a stiff hull transfers energy more efficiently, you optimize your speed to effort ratio.
