Getting There
Launch from the boat launch at the start of Big Salmon Lake. (GPS: Lat: N 44 31.731 Long: W 76 31.757 ).

Paddle from the boat launch to campsite # 3, in Frontenac Provincial Park. Paddle time: 20-30 minutes. Continue to paddle down the centre of the lake to campsite # 4, in Frontenac Provincial Park. Paddle time: 1 hr.
From there, then paddle to campsite # 5, in Frontenac Provincial Park. Paddle time: 1.5 to 2 hrs.
Additional paddle routes, off the main route can also be done. Paddle from the main line branching to the portages to Little Clear Lake, Camel Lake (by campsite # 4) and to Labelle Lake
There are four separate Frontenac Provincial Park (FPP) campsite areas on this route, each with it's own toilet facilities. Each area has a FPP number:
! Area # 3 (see map): There are 4 separate campsites.
! Area # 4 (see map): There are 4 separate campsites.
! Area # 5 (see map): There are 2 separate campsites.
! Area # 9 (see map): There are 4 separate campsites.
If you wish to extend your trip from Big Salmon Lake to Little Clear Lake, Camel Lake or Labelle Lake, there are portages that must be negotiated:
! Big Salmon to Little Clear Lake - 923 meters (3,028 feet).
! Big Salmon to Camel Lake - 453 meters (1,486 feet)
! Big Salmon to Labelle Lake - 491 meters (1,611 feet)

Sight Seeing
Apart from the spectacular wilderness sites, there are also some further items to see:
1. Near the launch point is the former site of the "Trails End" fishing lodge on Big Salmon Lake.
2. A little over half way between campsite number 3 and campsite number 4 on a point of land on the right side as you paddle towards campsite number 4, is Shingle Point where a shingle mill once operated in the 1800s.
3. At the far end of Big Salmon Lake, near campsite number 5 is a lookout point.
4. Several former homesteads are located near Little Clear Lake. Only one, the Green Homestead, is near to the lake. The other two are located closer to Black Lake.
