Getting There
Notes
Launch from the launch point at the end of Big Salmon Lake Road at Big Salmon Lake.
Paddle from the South West portage point in Little Salmon Lake to campsite # 6, in Frontenac Provincial Park. Paddle time: 1-1.5 hrs.
Take the portage from Little Salmon Lake to Little Clear Lake. Continue paddling from the South East corner portage on Little Clear Lake up to campsite # 9, in Frontenac Provincial Park. Paddle time: 2-3 hrs. from Big Salmon Lake launch.
An eastward branch paddle may be done from to the portages back to Big Salmon Lake and to Black Lake.
A secondary paddle can also be done from the main paddle
route on Little Salmon Lake to the portage to Birch Lake.
There are three Frontenac Provincial Park (FPP) campsite areas on this route, each with it's own toilet facilities.

Extending your trip to other lakes, as shown on the map, involves various portages which range from easy to very difficult, as discussed below.
If you wish to extend your trip from Little Salmon Lake to Birch Lake, there is a very long and difficult portage that must be negotiated. There are hills on this route.
! Little Salmon Lake to Birch Lake - 1138 meters (3,734 feet).
The portage from Little Salmon Lake to Big Salmon Lake is average with a hill.
! Little Salmon Lake to Big Salmon Lake - 974 meters (3,196 feet).
The portage from Little Salmon Lake to Little Clear Lake is average with a hill.
! Little Salmon Lake to Little Clear Lake - 856 meters (2,808 feet).
The portage from Little Clear Lake back to Big Salmon Lake is average with 2 hills.
! Little Clear Lake to Big Salmon Lake - 923 meters (3,028 feet).
The portage from Little Clear Lake over to Black Lake is flat and easy.
! Little Clear Lake to Black Lake - 503 meters (1,650 feet).

Sight Seeing
Apart from the spectacular wilderness sites, there are also some further items to see:
1. After leaving the portage from Big Salmon Lake and entering Little Salmon Lake, there is the remains of a mica mine on the left hand site a short distance up from the portage.
2. A short distance past this mine is a lookout point.
3. As you paddle to your right from the portage into Little Clear Lake you may see the remains of the Glenn Homestead a short distance away.
