Sight Seeing

The stretch from Bedford Mills to the Newboro Locks contains many small islands to observe.  Most of these islands are privately owned.

Newboro Lock is hydraulically operated.  Many of the locks are manually operated in the Rideau system but his is one of the few that is not.

The channel from Newboro Lock to The Upper Rideau Lake is a man made channel that was cut when the system was first built.

The town of Newboro has some interesting shops to explore should you decide to take a break.

The town of Westport also has interesting shops to explore and some good places to eat.
